Lyrics

Let Go the Dark

I took a walk to try and clear my mind
over miles of forest
miles of plain
the clouds sat heavy on mid-western fields
it was soon to thunder
soon to rain

in my mind I recalled the time you came to me
some seemed pleasure
some seemed pain
with no lines drawn I get so confused
then weakness comes
then the early morning blues

hold on to your courage now, hold on
hold on to your vision
and your tender heart
mistakes once made you can’t ever take back
so forgive yourself
and let go the dark

as I strolled on these images appeared to me
some seemed real
some fantasy
ghosts and hard angels did cover me
saying let things go, child
let things be

I’ve done some things that I sure regret
like the time I cheated on that Winslow girl
but this is something I’ll never forget
after years of trying
it clings to me yet

hold on to your courage now, hold on
hold on to your vision
and your tender heart
mistakes once made you can’t ever take back
so forgive yourself
and let go the dark
